Interview with a Cosplayer- Miss Faye

Back once again like summers end is Interview with a Cosplayer and we’re touching down in North Carolina for a few words with the always enterprising forever tantalizing award winning Miss Faye! This stay at home mother of one not only has major skills when it comes to her Cosplay creations she is what the R&B group The Commodores affectionately refers to as a Brick House!!!! Her outrageously sexy look makes it hard for the average fanboy to get up from his desk so he could take the cold shower needed to properly recover from the shock! She definitely has the goods to be uttered in the same breath as YaYa Han or Jessica Nigri. Let’s see what makes Miss Faye tick!

What is the Cosplay scene like in North Carolina?

The cosplay scene in North Carolina is small, and it’s built of cliques mainly. I tend to avoid groups like that and do my own thing with friends instead.

What got you into the art of Cosplay?

I had always read about it in the weekly anime magazine I was subscribed to, but conventions were never held in my area (West Virginia) back then. So when I moved to NC that was the first thing I looked into!

Miss Faye CosplayWho are your favorite characters to Cosplay?

I love cosplaying from anime and video games the most, I prefer strong characters I can relate to most times.

Can you tell me what it took to make this particular design? (Time, cost, materials, etc)

I typically use foam or worbla for my cosplay unless it’s fabric, in which case I’m still trying to get sewing down. It can cost anywhere from 50 to 400 dollars depending on the cosplay and can take weeks to months depending also.

Who/What is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is my family, they inspire me to push harder and be better with each cosplay I make. They humble me and remind me why I do this, and keep my head clear of drama and self doubt.

What are the Biggest cons in North Carolina right now?Miss Faye Cosplay

Animazement is a pretty decent sized con in NC. It’s not huge but is about the biggest we have consistently. Raleigh SuperCon was much bigger but this year was their first year in NC.

Which one is your favorite?

My favorite comic con I’ve been to so far is Raleigh SuperCon, my favorite anime con has been Anime Weekend Atlanta.

What are you into right now?

I’m currently watching a few animes lol My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, Gamers, Shimoneta, and Classroom of the Elite. I’m playing Overwatch Religiously right now. Not reading anything at the moment due to con crunch lol

What is your favorite cosplay moment?

My favorite cosplay moment that will always forever be my favorite was when I was a guest at Wizard World. When they announced me online a little girl and her father that had followed my fan page for a while decided to find me at the con. This little girl tracked me down and sat in my lap to talk to me for almost an hour. She hugged me probably 5 times before she left. The father reached out to me sometime after the con and said because of me his daughter wanted to strive to succeed more and was doing fantastic at school and at home. It’s always been a moment that will touch my heart forever.

What is your cosplay horror story?

I’ve had a few horrifying clothing malfunctions but luckily I haven’t flashed anyone… Yet… Lol

Where do you see the art of Cosplay in the next 5-10 years?

I honestly hope it gets back to its roots instead of being a fame chasing hobby. It’s wonderful to want fame in your life but it’s turned the community against one another and we’re all suppose to be a family of nerds enjoying something we love together.WR
